About WCT files

The .WCT file is a specialized laser beam profile data file created by DataRay WinCamD hardware and software. It stores 2D intensity maps and raw pixel data captured during laser profiling. You can natively open and manage these files using the official DataRay Software. The major disadvantage of the .WCT format is its proprietary, closed nature. It is heavily tied to specific hardware, requires an expensive software license to open, and is completely unreadable by standard web browsers or image viewers. This creates massive friction when sharing beam profiles with external teams or clients. To solve this, you should convert the data to standard formats. Converting to CSV or TXT is best for raw numerical analysis in Microsoft Excel or Python, while PNG or JPG are ideal for sharing visual beam heatmaps in reports. Because .WCT uses an undocumented binary structure, standard online converters fail to process it entirely; only the original software can correctly decode the radiometric scaling.
