About WBA files

A .WBA file is a proprietary archive format used by Stardock WindowBlinds to apply custom visual styles (skins) to the Microsoft Windows user interface. These files act as containers for the textures, images, and configuration scripts required to overhaul window borders, taskbars, and start buttons.

A common problem with .WBA files is their dependence on the specific WindowBlinds software ecosystem. Without the installed (and often paid) WindowBlinds utility, the file acts as a locked box, making the custom graphics inside inaccessible to standard image viewers or other design tools. Users often encounter these files in legacy customization archives and find them unusable on modern Windows versions without the dedicated engine.
