About VX files

The .VX file extension is shared by several distinct and highly specialized formats, making it extremely fragmented. Most commonly, it acts as a proprietary video file format for the Nintendo DS handheld gaming console. In industrial applications, .VX files are actually XML project files used by WinCan VX, an expensive, specialized software for sewer and wastewater inspection reporting, or by VisionReport II. Additionally, Oracle Visual Builder uses .VX as an application extension archive (which is structurally a ZIP file), and medical or scientific systems use it for VisX volume visualization data. The main disadvantage of the .VX format is this exact fragmentation. Because the extension is used by completely unrelated systems, operating systems cannot natively open them. WinCan and Oracle files require expensive enterprise licenses or specific cloud environments to run. Nintendo DS video files use proprietary encoding that modern media players like VLC fail to decode without specialized homebrew plugins. Converting a .VX file depends entirely on its underlying structure. Oracle extensions can simply be renamed to ZIP to extract the contents. WinCan projects, being plain text XML, can be parsed into CSV or TXT for basic data analysis, but generating a formal PDF report requires the original software. Nintendo DS videos require specialized transcoders to reach modern standards like MP4 or MKV. Because these are highly proprietary or closed-system formats, standard online converters usually fail to process them. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the visual data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying format like an embedded XML or ZIP, viewing or extraction may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your VX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted PDZ, GSF and PBC files.
