About PDZ files
The .PDZ file extension is shared by several highly proprietary formats. Most commonly, it is an X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrum data file created by analyzers from Thermo Scientific, Bruker, or Olympus. Scientists use these files to store chemical composition data. Another major use is the Chaoxing SuperStar Reader packaged digital book, a proprietary Chinese eBook format. Finally, Brother P-touch Editor uses .PDZ for printer label designs. The main disadvantage of .PDZ files is extreme vendor lock-in. XRF data files require expensive, specialized software like Bruker Spectra or Thermo Niton Data Transfer to open. You cannot view them in standard web browsers or spreadsheets. Chaoxing eBooks require a heavily restricted app. Users usually need to convert XRF .PDZ to CSV or XLSX for data analysis. Chaoxing books are often converted to PDF or EPUB for reading on standard devices. Brother label files might need conversion to PNG or PDF. Standard online converters usually fail because these formats are closed and undocumented. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data.
