A .vod file is typically a Video Object file, functionally similar to the standard VOB format found on DVD-Video discs, or a specialized Video on Demand file associated with legacy distribution platforms like WorldGroup or DivX. In the context of DVDs, these files contain multiplexed digital video (MPEG-2), audio, subtitles, and menu navigation data.
