About VEF files

The .vef extension is used for several completely unrelated file types, making it notoriously difficult to handle. Most commonly, it is an Android Smart Card Log or Voice Enrollment File generated by the Android Open Source Project. These files store raw smart card communication events or biometric voice prints. Alternatively, a .vef file can be a CorelDRAW Vector Font, an older format utilized by CorelDRAW for plotting and sign-making software. In the medical field, it is used by Valenta medical systems as a Holter monitor ECG data file.

The primary disadvantage of the .vef format is this extreme fragmentation. Standard tools cannot reliably guess the contents. CorelDRAW vector fonts are proprietary, locked into specific design ecosystems, and completely incompatible with modern web browsers or operating systems. Medical .vef files require expensive proprietary software to view natively. Android log files are often messy binary dumps that offer no value to the average user.

Conversion targets depend heavily on the source. Medical .vef files are actually ZIP archives in disguise and should be extracted to access raw data like CSV or TXT. CorelDRAW fonts theoretically need conversion to standard TTF or OTF, but direct conversion is rarely supported by standard software. Android logs can sometimes be converted to TXT.

Because standard online converters fail to distinguish between a font, a medical archive, or an Android log, converting these files is incredibly frustrating. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, like a medical ZIP structure, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your VEF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted EX1, TLV, KWI and TTF files.

The VEF Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our VEF converter.
