About UXF files
A .uxf file is a Unified Modeling Language (UML) diagram stored in the UML eXchange Format. It is primarily generated by UMLet, an open-source UML tool, and its web-based counterpart, UMLetino. Under the hood, the file consists of plain XML code that defines the coordinates, dimensions, text, and relationships of diagram shapes. While this makes the file lightweight and readable in text editors, the visual diagram itself is only rendered correctly by UMLet software.
The main disadvantage of the .uxf format is its lack of universal compatibility. Standard image viewers, web browsers, and word processors cannot render .uxf files natively. If you send a .uxf file to a client, manager, or colleague, they will see raw XML code unless they install specific software. Embedding these diagrams directly into documentation or slide decks is also impossible without prior conversion.
To share, embed, or print the diagram, you must convert it to a standard format. For high-quality printing and archiving, convert to PDF. For embedding in web pages or presentations, use PNG. If you need scalable vector graphics without quality loss, export to SVG. Drop your file here to view and convert it securely right in your browser.
Convert.Guru analyzes your UXF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert UXF file to PDF, PNG, INDD, QXP, PUB, PMD, PM6, PM7, PM8, PM9, PM10 or PM11, you can use UMLet or similar software from the "UML Diagram Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MDI, PUB, PDP, PM4, P65, COMIC, WEBTEMPLATE, PMD, SPUB, INDD, PM5 or QXP files to UXF, try UMLet or another comparable tool in the "UML Diagram Data Storage" category.
The UXF Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our UXF converter.
