About UV files
The .UV file extension is a highly fragmented format used by several distinct and completely unrelated software applications. Most frequently, it stores tendon geometry data for SOFiSTiK AG structural engineering software. In other industries, .UV files contain clinical speech analysis data generated by the KayPENTAX Ultimate Visi-Pitch system, or they act as standard 3D texture mapping files defining the horizontal (U) and vertical (V) surface coordinates of a 3D model. Rarely, the extension is also used as a legacy Interplay IFF image file on Amiga systems. The main disadvantage of the .UV format is its severe lack of standardization. Because multiple proprietary programs share the exact same extension, users often struggle to identify what data the file holds. SOFiSTiK engineering files are locked behind expensive enterprise software subscriptions and are usually useless without the parent project data files. Similarly, Ultimate Visi-Pitch files require specialized clinical hardware to read. If you are dealing with a 3D texture map, the best conversion targets are common image formats like PNG or JPG. For engineering or analysis data, exporting to standard data formats like CSV or XML is ideal, but this usually requires the original software environment. Converting a .UV file online is notoriously difficult because standard converters cannot guess which of the four distinct format types your file belongs to. These are closed, proprietary formats. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. However, convert.guru offers a pragmatic workaround. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, inspect the raw binary or text content, and view it. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your UV file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The UV Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our UV converter.
