Extract text from User state profiles (USP)
To convert USP profiles to another format, you need Citrix Profile Management or other Settings software.
To convert other file formats to the "System Configuration File" file type, you need software like Citrix Profile Management or a similar tool.
The .USP file extension is most commonly utilized for User State Profile data files by Citrix Profile Management and the Windows User State Migration Tool (USMT). These files store user environment variables and configuration settings, typically saved in a UTF-16 (LE) plain text format. Because these files contain highly specific system paths and registry-like data, they are inherently tied to the operating system or virtualization software that created them. This makes them difficult to move or utilize outside their native environment.
The .USP extension is also shared by several completely unrelated, proprietary formats. It serves as a SIMCA Project File for multivariate data analysis in Umetrics SIMCA software, a PL-Link project file used by Proceq Pundit ultrasonic testing equipment, and even as a downloadable printer soft font for older Hewlett-Packard PCL 5 printer drivers.
Users frequently try to convert .USP files to extract raw text, migrate system settings, or export proprietary SIMCA datasets into CSV or XLSX formats for use in Excel. Unfortunately, standard online converters fail here because SIMCA and PL-Link files are closed, proprietary binary formats. Without the original software architecture, the data cannot be properly parsed or exported. For SIMCA or PL-Link files, you generally must use the native application to export the data.
