About DEL files
A .DEL file usually serves one of three completely different purposes. Most often, it is a Delimited Data Extract exported by enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems like SAP, Sage, or the South African PERSAL payroll system. These files store tabular data using specific characters like commas, tabs, or pipes to separate columns. Alternatively, .DEL files are temporary files created by Microsoft Windows that are marked for deletion upon the next system reboot. Finally, they can be proprietary measurement data files generated by Malvern Panalytical Zetasizer lab equipment. You often need to convert .DEL data files because they lack standard formatting. They do not open automatically in standard spreadsheet software. The raw text is hard to read, and custom delimiters often break data alignment if opened directly. Furthermore, Zetasizer .DEL files are locked behind closed, proprietary software ecosystems. Without the original lab software, you cannot view the scientific data inside. For enterprise data exports, the best target formats are CSV, XLSX, or TXT. Converting to these formats ensures your data is readable in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. However, Windows temp .DEL files contain no useful user data and should just be ignored or deleted. Because .DEL is a generic extension used by multiple disconnected systems, it is difficult to open or convert without knowing its exact origin. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format - such as standard ASCII text or a Microsoft Compound structure - viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your DEL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert DEL file to TXT, RTF, DOC, DOCX, ODT, PAGES, TEX, LATEX, MD, MARKDOWN, LOG or NFO, you can use Microsoft Excel or similar software from the "Delimited Data Export" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert PDF, DOC, ASC, TODO, NFO, MEMO, README, DOCX, JPG, TXT, NOTE or RTF files to DEL, try Microsoft Excel or another comparable tool in the "Delimited Data Export" category.
The DEL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DEL converter.
