About UMOD files

The .UMOD file format is primarily used as a game modification package for games built on the Unreal Engine (like the classic Unreal Tournament) and the UMod Framework for Unity (seen in games like She Will Punish Them). A smaller percentage of these files are XML-based Modbus configuration maps used by ComAp controller software.

Opening these files can be a frustrating experience. Unreal .UMOD files are proprietary archives designed to be read by native, often legacy, game installers. Because they rely heavily on specific Windows Registry entries generated during the original game installation, moving your game folder usually breaks the .UMOD installer entirely. They are also closed containers; you cannot natively browse the textures, 3D models, or audio inside without specific extraction utilities. Similarly, Unity mods and ComAp configurations require their respective, specialized software environments.

To bypass legacy installer errors and access the raw game assets, convert the .UMOD archive to a standard ZIP or RAR. This allows you to extract individual audio files, textures, and maps directly. If you have a ComAp Modbus configuration file, convert it to XML or CSV to read the register mapping in a standard text editor or spreadsheet.

Convert.Guru analyzes your UMOD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted ZIP, UTP and TP2 files.
