Extract text from Compressed archives (TZ)

The .TZ file extension serves several distinct, often incompatible purposes. Most commonly, it is an AI video enhancement model used by Topaz Labs Video AI (often leveraging the OpenVINO framework), a legacy Gzip compressed archive, or a Time Zone Information file from the IANA Time Zone Database. Additionally, Tiertime 3D printers use it as a proprietary container for compressed GCODE files.
The main disadvantage of the .TZ format is this extreme fragmentation. If you receive a .TZ file, your operating system will not know what to do with it natively. Default tools like Windows Explorer or macOS Archive Utility usually fail to open it because they expect standard ZIP or GZ extensions. Furthermore, the AI models are proprietary and locked inside expensive software ecosystems, making them difficult to reuse in standard machine learning workflows.
To bypass these limits, you must extract or convert the file based on its actual contents. For general archives, convert .TZ to ZIP or 7Z for universal sharing and compatibility. If it is Tiertime print data, extract it to raw GCODE so you can view or edit the toolpaths in modern slicers like PrusaSlicer. For time zone database files, convert them to CSV or JSON to process the data in modern web applications.
