A .TWBX file is a Tableau Packaged Workbook. It stores a complete data visualization project, bundling the visual layout (TWB) and its required local data sources (such as .HYPER, TDE, or CSV files) into a single compressed archive. This format is primarily used to share standalone dashboards and reports with offline users.

Users often need to convert .TWBX files because the format is strictly proprietary. The major disadvantage is that it locks your data and visual insights inside an expensive or heavy desktop application. Standard web browsers cannot display them natively.
