About TSH files

The .TSH file extension is most commonly associated with the TrueSpeech audio codec, developed by the DSP Group. These files store highly compressed voice recordings, historically used in older dictation hardware or telecom systems. Alternatively, a .TSH file can be a Tajima Embroidery design created by Tajima DG/ML by Pulse, a game texture sheet for Traveller's Tales games (such as LEGO The Hobbit), or a training schedule for the Football Manager video game franchise.

The primary disadvantage of a TrueSpeech .TSH file is its obsolescence. It relies on a legacy proprietary codec that modern operating systems and mobile devices no longer support natively. Users trying to play these voice notes usually encounter playback errors unless they install specialized transcription software like NCH Express Scribe. Similarly, the embroidery and game data variants are completely locked to their respective ecosystems. The Tajima .TSH variant uses an older Microsoft Compound container structure, which standard vector graphics editors cannot read.

For audio .TSH files, the best conversion targets are universal formats like MP3 or WAV. Converting ensures immediate playback on smartphones and web browsers, though the original low-bitrate voice quality will not improve. Embroidery .TSH files should be exported to standard stitch formats like DST or PES to ensure compatibility with various industrial sewing machines.

Because these formats use obsolete encoding or proprietary structures, they are notoriously difficult to process. Standard online converters often fail because they lack the specific TrueSpeech codec or the proprietary Tajima rendering engine. Even if it is a proprietary game file, our analysis engine can often detect and extract embedded text, audio, or images.

Convert.Guru analyzes your TSH file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted TSX, WAV, QCP, M4A, KSH and ZAR files.

The TSH Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TSH converter.
