The .tpt file extension is primarily used for SAS Transport Data files by SAS Institute Inc. to transfer statistical datasets between incompatible operating systems. It is also heavily utilized as a SAP Process Integration (PI) transport file or a SAP HANA performance trace file within the SAP enterprise ecosystem. Additionally, TrekkSoft booking software uses the .tpt extension for compressed ZIP based PDF template files.
These enterprise formats carry severe disadvantages for general users. SAS .tpt files contain raw statistical data but demand an expensive SAS software license or the SAS Universal Viewer to read. SAP transport and trace files are strictly internal routing containers used by database administrators. Neither format is supported by web browsers, making them extremely difficult to share with non-technical stakeholders.
Users generally need to convert SAS .tpt files to standard tabular formats like CSV or XLSX to manipulate the data in Microsoft Excel. TrekkSoft .tpt templates are usually converted to standard PDF documents.
