A .THEME file stores user interface customization settings. Depending on the system, it is either a plain text configuration file used by Microsoft Windows or an archived package used by OPPO's ColorOS for Android devices. They are also utilized in Linux environments like GNOME Shell as desktop icon theme definitions.
Opened natively by OS personalization menus, these files dictate window colors, sounds, cursors, and wallpapers. However, working with them outside their native environments presents immediate challenges. The primary disadvantage of a Windows .THEME file is that it only contains text pathways pointing to local files. It does not embed the actual media. If you share a Windows .THEME file, the recipient will get broken links instead of custom wallpapers. OPPO ColorOS .THEME files are self-contained but use a proprietary extension, locking the underlying image assets away from standard gallery apps.
