About TGD files
The .TGD file is a heavily regulated digital tachograph data file used in the European transport industry. These files store encrypted vehicle telemetry and driver activity logs to comply with the EU Digital Tachograph Standard. Primary software used to read these files includes TachoReader and specialized tools from Stoneridge Electronics. Users frequently need to convert these files to readable formats like CSV, XML, or PDF to analyze driving hours, calculate payroll, or generate human-readable compliance reports. However, the .TGD format is proprietary, strictly regulated, and digitally signed to prevent tampering. Opening a .TGD file in a standard text editor yields unreadable binary gibberish. Fleet management software required to process these files natively is often tied to expensive monthly subscriptions. A smaller percentage of .TGD files act as 3D landscape project files from Terragen or gaze data logs from Tobii Studio. Because tachograph data relies on strict encryption and checksums, standard online converters fail to process it. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TGD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert TGD file to OBJ, FBX, DAE, 3DS, MAX, BLEND, MA, MB, C4D, STL, PLY or WRL, you can use TachoReader or similar software from the "Driver Activity Data Logging" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DWG, DAE, X3D, IGES, WRL, JT, SKP, 3DS, 3DM, OBJ, STEP or FBX files to TGD, try TachoReader or another comparable tool in the "Driver Activity Data Logging" category.
The TGD Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TGD converter.
