About TGB files
The .TGB file extension serves two distinct, incompatible purposes, causing significant confusion for users trying to open one. Primarily (over 70% of cases), it is a proprietary VPN Configuration file generated by TheGreenBow VPN Client, a software stack frequently whitelabeled by enterprise vendors like Sophos and Zyxel. These files contain encrypted IPsec policies, gateway definitions, and pre-shared keys. The major catch is that .TGB files are not human-readable text files like OVPN or standard CONF files; they are often encrypted binaries locked to specific software versions. You cannot simply open them in a text editor to view the settings. If you are not managing a corporate network, your file might alternatively be a legacy Targa Bitmap image (from Truevision), a raster format that modern operating systems and web browsers no longer support natively. For VPN files, the only 'conversion' is importing them into the correct client software. For Targa images, you must convert them to PNG or JPG for web use or TIFF for archiving.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TGB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert TGB file to EXE, ISO, BIN, CUE, PAK, WAD, PK3, PK4, BSP, MAP, SAV or DAT, you can use TheGreenBow VPN Client or similar software from the "VPN Configuration Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MOD, BIN, CFG, SCX, DAT, MPQ, LOG, CUE, INI, EXE, SCM or ISO files to TGB, try TheGreenBow VPN Client or another comparable tool in the "VPN Configuration Storage" category.
The TGB Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TGB converter.
