About VEH files

A .VEH file acts as a vehicle definition or swept path analysis file, depending on its origin. In civil engineering, AutoTURN and PTV Vissim use .VEH files formatted in JSON to define vehicle dimensions, axles, and turning radiuses for swept path analysis on roadways. In the gaming world, racing simulators powered by the gMotor2 engine - such as rFactor, Automobilista, and Live for Speed - use .VEH files as master configuration scripts. These plain-text files link 3D mesh skins, physics engines, and sound packs to a specific drivable car model.

The main disadvantage of .VEH files is software lock-in and extension ambiguity. Opening an engineering swept path file normally requires an expensive CAD plug-in license just to read basic length and width data. Conversely, game-based .VEH files are frequently modified by modding communities, but opening them in standard word processors introduces hidden formatting that crashes the game engine. Furthermore, sharing these files is frustrating because standard operating systems do not natively recognize the .VEH extension, leaving users staring at an unopenable file.

For engineering data extraction, convert .VEH files to JSON, CSV, or TXT to easily view the vehicle geometry parameters in any text viewer or spreadsheet. For game modding, opening the file as standard TXT ensures you can read and edit the physics pointers without breaking the file structure.

Convert.Guru analyzes your VEH file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted VDRI, HAT and RDT files.

FAQ

If you want to convert VEH file to EXE, ISO, BIN, CUE, PAK, WAD, PK3, PK4, BSP, MAP, SAV or DAT, you can use Transoft AutoTURN or similar software from the "Vehicle Geometry and Configuration Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert MOD, BIN, CFG, SCX, DAT, MPQ, LOG, CUE, INI, EXE, SCM or ISO files to VEH, try Transoft AutoTURN or another comparable tool in the "Vehicle Geometry and Configuration Data" category.

The VEH Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our VEH converter.
