About TDL files

The .TDL extension is most frequently generated by AbstractSpoon ToDoList, an open-source task management utility for Windows. These files function as hierarchical project databases stored in XML format. While XML makes the data theoretically readable, the nested structure of tasks, deadlines, and flags is difficult to interpret without the native software. This creates a significant bottleneck when sharing project statuses with team members who do not use the specific desktop client, or when attempting to view tasks on mobile devices where support is nonexistent. To overcome these compatibility hurdles, users often need to convert .TDL files to PDF for static reporting, CSV or XLS for spreadsheet analysis, or HTML for web viewing.

A secondary but common use of the .TDL extension is by the Xunlei Thunder download manager (and similar tools like Total Downloader). In this context, the file represents an incomplete download, often intended to be a video file (like MP4 or MKV). The file is essentially a placeholder containing partial binary data. Users frequently encounter these files when a download stalls or fails. While not a standard conversion, renaming the extension from .TDL to the intended video format can sometimes allow media players like VLC Media Player to play the partial content, though a proper recovery usually requires finishing the download process.

Convert.Guru analyzes your TDL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted TCP, JPG, JPEG, PDF, TXT, XML, PNG, TLD, TDS, DOCX, XLSX, XLS and CSV files.

The TDL Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TDL converter.
