About TCT files
The .TCT file extension serves multiple distinct purposes, most notably as a Micro-CT Scan Image Data file, a Football Game Tactic file, or a TurboCAD Drawing file. In scientific research, Bruker micro-CT systems use .TCT files to store high-resolution 3D X-ray imaging data. These files use an underlying TIFF structure but are often massive in size and require specialized medical imaging software to open, creating major sharing barriers. Alternatively, TurboCAD relies on .TCT files (built on the Microsoft Compound format) for 2D and 3D CAD drawings and templates, locking users into the IMSI Design ecosystem. Gamers may also encounter .TCT as tactic files for Total Club Manager or terrain collision data in Knight Online. Converting .TCT files is notoriously challenging because they are highly proprietary and domain-specific. Standard image or document converters cannot interpret Bruker scan volumes or IMSI CAD geometries. To share these files effectively, Micro-CT users must export to standard TIFF, DICOM, or PNG formats, while CAD users must rely on TurboCAD to export to DWG, DXF, or PDF. Because these are closed formats, third-party conversion often results in stripped metadata or flattened 3D models.
