The .tct extension serves three distinct, incompatible ecosystems, often leading to confusion when a file refuses to open. The most technically complex variant is the TurboCAD Drawing Template, created by IMSI Design TurboCAD. These files store reusable layouts, layers, and settings for 2D/3D drafting. The friction here is proprietary lock-in: a .tct file cannot be opened directly in AutoCAD or other industry-standard tools without conversion. For sharing designs with clients who lack CAD software, converting these templates to PDF is the standard for viewing, while converting to DXF or DWG allows for editing in other CAD suites.
Alternatively, a .tct file may be a Micro-CT scan image generated by Bruker micro-CT systems. These are essentially high-resolution raster images, often internally formatted as TIFF files but obscured by the extension.
