About TBB files

The .TBB file extension is primarily used as an email message base file by The Bat!, a secure email client developed by Ritlabs. It stores the raw data of emails received and sent by the user. Alternately, .TBB files are generated by BlackBerry Desktop Software as backup archives for older mobile devices, containing contacts, SMS, and calendar events. A third, less common use is as binary data tables in video games like Shin Megami Tensei V (Atlus) and the Resident Evil series (Capcom), where they hold structured gameplay data. These proprietary formats present massive interoperability challenges. A .TBB email base cannot be natively opened by modern web browsers or standard email clients like Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird. Users are locked into the original software, which often requires a paid license or an obsolete operating system.
