Convert SYD to another file type
To convert SYD Data files to another format, you need SYSTAT or other Data software.
Convert a file to SYD
To convert other file formats to the "Statistical Data File" file type, you need software like SYSTAT or a similar tool.
About SYD files
The .syd file extension is primarily associated with SYSTAT, a comprehensive statistical software package originally developed by Systat Software Inc.. These files store complex datasets, variables, and statistical models used in scientific research. A secondary use for .syd files is as backup data files for NEC PBX systems or Speedytel phone directories, and occasionally as Yamaha synthesizer data files. The main disadvantage of the .syd format is its proprietary, closed nature. You cannot open these files natively in web browsers, standard text editors, or mainstream spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel. Users without an active, expensive license for SYSTAT will find themselves locked out of their own statistical data. Because it is a proprietary binary format, standard online converters usually fail to process .syd files. Typically, only the original software can accurately read the data structure and export it safely. If you have access to the original software, it is highly recommended to export your data to CSV, XLSX, or TXT to ensure long-term accessibility and compatibility with modern data tools like Python or R. Despite these strict proprietary limitations, you can still use convert.guru. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. Our platform will inspect the internal file signatures to confirm whether it is a SYSTAT dataset, a PBX backup, or another variant. If our analysis detects supported underlying text or embedded data, viewing or partial conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SYD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert SYD file to SFT, SQM, BAK, BACKUP, OLD, TMP, TEMP, ARC, ZIP, TAR, GZ or 7Z, you can use SYSTAT or similar software from the "Statistical Analysis Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SNAPSHOT, OLD, IMG, RESTORE, ISO, COPY, VMDK, TMP, VHD, BAK, ARCHIVE or BACKUP files to SYD, try SYSTAT or another comparable tool in the "Statistical Analysis Data Storage" category.
The SYD Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SYD converter.
