The .sve file extension serves two distinctly different purposes. Most commonly, it is associated with files maliciously encrypted by the Sodinokibi (REvil) ransomware. Alternatively, it is used as a proprietary game save or event file for popular simulation and strategy games, including Mindustry, rFactor, and Simutrans.
For gamers, .sve files are generated and loaded directly by the game engine itself. For ransomware victims, there is no official software to open the file - the data is locked behind complex AES and Salsa20 cryptography, meaning you need a specific decryption utility (such as those provided by cybersecurity firms) rather than a simple converter tool.
