About SVE files

The .SVE extension serves two vastly different purposes, one malicious and one recreational. Statistically, if your documents, images, and standard files have suddenly acquired this extension, you are likely dealing with Sodinokibi (REvil) ransomware. In this scenario, the file is not a valid format but a locked container requiring a decryption key, making standard conversion impossible without the specific decryptor.

However, for gamers, .SVE acts as a storage container for game states and configurations. It is most notably used by Mindustry, an open-source factory-building game, to store save data and map states. It is also used by rFactor for vehicle setup configurations and by Simutrans for saved games. These files are typically binary or compressed (often using Deflate or similar algorithms), meaning they are unreadable in standard text editors like Notepad. A common source of friction is version mismatches; a .SVE file from an older version of Mindustry often fails to load in newer builds.

Convert.Guru analyzes your SVE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted TX, 5 and HWP files.

The SVE Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SVE converter.
