About SUN files

The .SUN file extension represents two completely different file types: legacy Sun Raster images and enterprise financial data. Originally developed by Sun Microsystems, the Sun Raster format was used natively on SunOS UNIX systems. Today, this format is obsolete, completely unsupported by web browsers, and typically stores uncompressed bitmap data that wastes disk space. Alternatively, .SUN files are generated as transaction logs and financial data exports by Infor SunSystems, Opera PMS, or as calculation rules in Glodon Quantity Takeoff software. These proprietary data files are rigid, plain-text or delimited databases that are useless unless imported into their specific enterprise ecosystem. To make these files usable, conversion is mandatory. For legacy images, convert to PNG for lossless archiving or JPG for web publishing.
