About SUIT files
The .SUIT file extension represents two distinct formats that confuse users due to platform incompatibility.
1. Macintosh Font Suitcase (Primary)
Most commonly, a .SUIT file is a legacy Macintosh Font Suitcase. This container holds a collection of fonts - often combining bitmap screen fonts and TrueType outlines - in a single file.
The Problem: These files rely on the Macintosh Resource Fork, a file system feature unique to macOS. When you transfer a .SUIT file to Windows or Linux, the operating system often strips the resource fork, leaving behind a 0KB or "empty" file. Windows cannot read these files natively, and modern design tools like Adobe Creative Cloud have largely dropped support for them.
The Solution: To use these fonts on Windows or modern macOS versions, you must convert them to cross-platform standards like OTF (OpenType) or TTF (TrueType). Tools like FontForge or CrossFont can extract the font data - provided the resource fork wasn't destroyed during transfer.
2. Marvel's Spider-Man Mod (Secondary)
In PC gaming, .SUIT files are mod archives for Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered. These files contain textures, meshes, and metadata to add new costumes to the game.
The Solution: These are not meant to be opened directly. You must use the Spider-Man PC Modding Tool to install them. However, since they are often modified ZIP archives, renaming the extension to ZIP may allow you to inspect or extract the assets manually.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SUIT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted BRAUENEUREG, AFM, TTF, SIT, ZIP, TORRENT, PDF, ICS, TTC, DFONT and OTF files.
The SUIT Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SUIT converter.
