To convert other file formats to the "Style Library Export" file type, you need software like Autodesk Inventor or a similar tool.
About STYXML files
A .STYXML file is a specialized XML export generated by Autodesk Inventor used to define design standards, including materials, lighting, balloons, and dimension styles. Unlike the older binary STY format, these files use a human-readable structure to store configuration data within the Inventor Style Library.
While the underlying format is text-based, the specific schema is proprietary to the Autodesk ecosystem. A common problem is the inability to visualize these styles without having the full, expensive CAD software installed. Users attempting to migrate standards to other tools like SolidWorks or Fusion 360 often find the file incompatible, as it cannot be directly imported. Furthermore, casually opening these in a web browser results in an unformatted code dump rather than a usable style sheet.
For documentation or version control, convert .STYXML to standard TXT or XML to enable easy "diff" comparisons between file versions. For archiving company standards without locking them into a specific software version, converting the code view to PDF is the most reliable workflow.
Convert.Guru analyzes your STYXML file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert STYXML file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use Autodesk Inventor or similar software from the "CAD Style Definitions" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to STYXML, try Autodesk Inventor or another comparable tool in the "CAD Style Definitions" category.
The STYXML Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our STYXML converter.
