About SSX files

The .SSX file extension is primarily utilized as an LED screen configuration file managed by Colorlight LEDVISION or LedshowTW software. These files dictate display parameters, port mappings, and hardware resolutions using an internal XML structure. Alternatively, the .SSX format is deployed by Laerdal Medical LLEAP as a medical simulation session log, storing chronological simulator data and training analytics inside a standard ZIP container. Additionally, audio engineers encounter .SSX files as proprietary instrument modules or presets for Softube Console 1, functioning internally as compiled executable structures.

Working with .SSX files introduces significant frustrations. Because the same extension represents entirely different file architectures depending on the origin software, generic tools and operating systems cannot process them. Colorlight LED setups require the exact vendor software to push the layout to the hardware. Laerdal medical logs trap valuable training analytics inside a proprietary archive. Without an expensive license or the original authoring software, users cannot easily access their own hardware configurations or simulation data, forcing vendor lock-in.

Converting .SSX to standard formats is highly recommended to preserve access to the underlying data. You can often extract the configurations to XML, or unzip the medical simulation logs to retrieve readable CSV and TXT files. Standard online converters routinely fail to process .SSX files because they rely solely on the file extension to guess the conversion path, resulting in automatic errors when the file turns out to be a ZIP archive instead of XML code.

This file format is notoriously difficult to open or convert because it is a closed, proprietary extension masquerading multiple completely unrelated data types. Often, only the original authoring software can accurately read or export the specific payload. Our platform inspects the actual file signature to detect if the underlying structure is XML, ZIP, or an executable, allowing you to bypass software restrictions and access the embedded content.

Convert.Guru analyzes your SSX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted SSR, TXT, ODC, PSL and MDR files.

FAQ

If you want to convert SSX file to TMP, TEMP, CACHE, LOG, BAK, OLD, NEW, PART, DOWNLOAD, CRDOWNLOAD, LOCK or PID, you can use Colorlight LEDVISION or similar software from the "Hardware Configuration & Simulation Logs" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert DEVICE, CACHE, SOCK, SYMLINK, PID, MOUNT, FIFO, LOG, PIPE, TMP, JUNCTION or TEMP files to SSX, try Colorlight LEDVISION or another comparable tool in the "Hardware Configuration & Simulation Logs" category.

The SSX Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SSX converter.
