Convert SSM to another file type
To convert SSM SISTEMA files to another format, you need Ocean Optics SpectraSuite or other Data software.
Convert a file to SSM
To convert other file formats to the "Scientific & Engineering Data" file type, you need software like Ocean Optics SpectraSuite or a similar tool.
About SSM files
The .SSM file extension is highly fragmented and used by several completely unrelated software applications. Most commonly, it functions as a Spectroscopy Scope Mode data file generated by Ocean Optics SpectraSuite for spectrometer data analysis. Another major use case is as a Safety Analysis Project file for the IFA SISTEMA risk assessment software. In rarer cases, .SSM files store IATA airline schedule messages, Maxent species distribution models, or legacy Samsung S Memo notes.
The primary disadvantage of the .SSM format is this extreme lack of standardization. Because the extension is shared across different industries, operating systems fail to assign a universal default program. Furthermore, files like Ocean Optics data are saved in proprietary, closed architectures. This locks your data into expensive, specialized software, making it incredibly difficult to share raw findings with clients or colleagues who do not have a license. Samsung S Memo files pose an entirely different problem: they are heavily tied to obsolete Android device ecosystems, making modern data retrieval highly frustrating.
Converting .SSM files into standard formats is essential for long-term access and collaboration. Spectroscopy data should ideally be exported to CSV or TXT formats so it can be graphed in Microsoft Excel. SISTEMA safety reports are best exported to PDF to ensure managers and auditors can read the risk assessments without installing engineering tools.
Because of the conflicting file signatures - ranging from plain XML to complex HDF5 containers and proprietary binary data - standard online converters usually fail to process .SSM files. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SSM file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert SSM file to MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, OGG, WMA, M4A, AIFF, OPUS, ALAC, APE or WV, you can use Ocean Optics SpectraSuite or similar software from the "Spectroscopy Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MIDI, AAC, TTA, AU, WV, DTS, MID, FLAC, RA, MP3, PCM or WAV files to SSM, try Ocean Optics SpectraSuite or another comparable tool in the "Spectroscopy Data Storage" category.
The SSM Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SSM converter.
