Convert SRL to another file type
To convert SRL ROM files to another format, you need Steam or other Data software.
Convert a file to SRL
To convert other file formats to the "Proprietary App Data" file type, you need software like Steam or a similar tool.
About SRL files
An .SRL file typically contains proprietary data for a specific application, most often acting as a Cricket Scorer match file, a Steam reward list, or a Nintendo DS / Game Boy Advance ROM. These files store highly structured internal data. For instance, cricket match statistics are often serialized in Java, ballistics data in XML, and retro game backups as raw read-only memory dumps from cartridges.
You can open Nintendo DS ROM .SRL files using emulators like DeSmuME. Ballistics data requires the Strelok Pro calculator, while Steam data is managed internally by the Steam Client. Because these files serve completely different functions across unrelated platforms, standard operating systems cannot determine how to open them. A simple double-click usually results in an error. Furthermore, these are closed, proprietary formats. Steam and ROM formats are highly compressed and lack cross-compatibility. You cannot simply open a Steam reward list in a text editor without breaking the file, and ROM files are explicitly designed for native console hardware, not standard PC browsers.
Converting .SRL files is exceptionally difficult because standard online converters fail to process such fragmented and proprietary structures. Often only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format - such as XML (used in Strelok Pro) or ZIP (used in NETZSCH Proteus) - viewing or data extraction may still be possible. While direct conversion to formats like PDF or JPG is rarely applicable to raw ROMs, data extraction to TXT or ZIP can salvage inaccessible information.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SRL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert SRL file to EXE, ISO, BIN, CUE, PAK, WAD, PK3, PK4, BSP, MAP, SAV or DAT, you can use Steam or similar software from the "Application Data and Console ROMs" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MOD, BIN, CFG, SCX, DAT, MPQ, LOG, CUE, INI, EXE, SCM or ISO files to SRL, try Steam or another comparable tool in the "Application Data and Console ROMs" category.
The SRL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SRL converter.
