Extract text from SHR files
To convert your SHR file to another format, you need RF Explorer or other Data software.
To convert other file formats to the "Signal Analysis Recording" file type, you need software like RF Explorer or a similar tool.
If you have a .SHR file, you are likely dealing with a specialized Spectrum Analyzer Recording generated by tools like RF Explorer or SDRuno, or a legacy Unix Shell Archive.
Spectrum Analyzer Files (17%): These contain raw radio frequency sweep data. The main issue is that these files are binary or proprietary logs intended solely for playback in specific analysis software. Users often need this data in CSV or XLSX formats to perform custom analysis in Microsoft Excel or MATLAB, but the native software may lack flexible export options.
Unix Shell Archives (0.9%): Historically known as a 'shar' file, this is a self-extracting archive created with the Unix shar utility. While clever, they pose a security risk; because the archive is technically an executable shell script, running it to extract the files executes commands on your system. Modern operating systems and email filters often block these as potential threats. The pragmatic workaround is to convert or rename the file to TXT to safely inspect the code or use a safe extraction tool to convert the contents into a standard ZIP or folder structure without executing the script.
CAD Settings (15%): A significant portion of .SHR files are configuration files for DDS-CAD (Data Design System). These lock in pen sets and layer definitions and generally cannot be converted to visual formats like PDF or JPG; they are strictly for internal software configuration.
