Convert SHR to another file type
To convert SHR Archives to another format, you need SDRuno or other Data software.
Convert a file to SHR
To convert other file formats to the "Sweep Recording & Settings" file type, you need software like SDRuno or a similar tool.
About SHR files
The .SHR file format is highly fragmented, serving several completely distinct purposes. Most commonly, it is an RF Explorer spectrum analyzer sweep recording used in software like SDRuno. It can also function as a CAD layer and pen settings file for DataCAD and Data Design System DDS-CAD. Additionally, gamers encounter .SHR files as compressed replay files for games like Geometry Dash or Super Hexagon, and system administrators may see it as a legacy Unix Shell Archive File.
This severe fragmentation makes the .SHR format frustrating to handle. Because it is a proprietary or context-dependent format, standard text editors and media players will fail to open it. Sweep recordings require specific SDR (Software Defined Radio) software to visualize. CAD settings are completely dependent on their native drafting environment and provide no value to standard text processors.
If you need to share or analyze sweep data, converting the .SHR file to a standard CSV or TXT is often necessary to plot the data in spreadsheet software. Game replays cannot be converted directly to video formats like MP4 because they store keystrokes, not video frames. However, because games often use standard ZIP compression for their .SHR files, extracting the internal data is sometimes possible.
This file format is difficult to open or convert with generic tools. Emphasize that often only the original software can properly read or export the data. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible on convert.guru. We inspect the file and show text or internal content. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format - like a disguised ZIP archive - viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SHR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert SHR file to ZIP, RAR, 7Z, TAR, GZ, BZ2, XZ, LZMA, CAB, ACE, ARJ or LHA, you can use SDRuno or similar software from the "Hardware Data & Settings Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert XXE, 7Z, Z, PAK, LHA, DEB, UUE, TAR, LZH, ZIP, PKG or RAR files to SHR, try SDRuno or another comparable tool in the "Hardware Data & Settings Storage" category.
The SHR Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SHR converter.
