About SH3D files
The .SH3D file extension is a 3D home design project created by Sweet Home 3D, a free architectural design application developed by eTeks. These files store 2D floor plans, 3D furniture models, light settings, and texture images.
Users often need to convert .SH3D files because they are specialized project containers. You cannot view them in standard web browsers or image viewers. Sharing a floor plan with a client or contractor requires them to download and install Sweet Home 3D. Furthermore, standard 3D converters usually fail to process .SH3D because it is not a single raw 3D mesh like OBJ or STL; it is an assembly of multiple assets structured inside a compressed archive.
For sharing, the best target formats are PDF or SVG for 2D floor plans, and PNG or JPG for rendered 3D views. If you need to migrate the 3D model to another CAD or 3D software like Blender, exporting to OBJ is recommended.
Because .SH3D is a complex multi-asset file, standard online converters struggle to convert it directly. Often only the original software can properly read or export the 3D scene data.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SH3D file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert SH3D file to DWG, PDF, OBJ, SKP, FBX, DAE, 3DS, MAX, BLEND, MA, MB or C4D, you can use Sweet Home 3D or similar software from the "3D Home Design Project" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DWG, DAE, X3D, IGES, WRL, JT, SKP, 3DS, 3DM, OBJ, STEP or FBX files to SH3D, try Sweet Home 3D or another comparable tool in the "3D Home Design Project" category.
The SH3D Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SH3D converter.
