To convert other file formats to the "Software Project Workspace File" file type, you need software like Sound Forge or a similar tool.
About SGP files
.SGP files primarily act as project workspace files for either Magix Sound Forge Pro (formerly developed by Sony) or Statgraphics Centurion. In the context of Sound Forge, the file uses a Resource Interchange File Format (RIFF) structure to store session groups, track edits, plugin configurations, and audio routing settings. For statistical use, the format saves a "Statfolio," which stores data pointers, chart layouts, and analytical models for later retrieval.
The major disadvantage of the .SGP format is its rigid, proprietary nature. These files do not contain actual media or datasets; they merely reference external files on your local hard drive. Moving an .SGP file without the accompanying source files results in a broken project. Furthermore, they are useless outside of their native, expensive software environments and cannot be natively viewed or played in web browsers.
To make the data usable, conversion or exporting is mandatory. For audio projects, render the output to WAV for lossless archiving or MP3 for web streaming. For statistical data, export the results to CSV for universal spreadsheet compatibility or PDF for final reports. Drag and drop your file to analyze and convert it - free, online, and without installing software using convert.guru.

The SGP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SGP converter.
