About SECURE files
A .secure file is primarily an encrypted container created by Digital Arts FinalCode, an enterprise-grade Digital Rights Management (DRM) solution. These files encapsulate standard documents - such as DOCX, PDF, or XLSX - inside a hardened shell to prevent unauthorized access, printing, or copying. The catch for users is that .secure files are completely opaque to standard software; you cannot open them with Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat directly. To access the content, the recipient must install the specific FinalCode client software and authenticate with the rights management server. If the sender revokes access, the file becomes permanently unreadable, even if it is sitting on your local hard drive. A secondary, less common format using this extension is the Septium Secure Document, which functions similarly as a sealed wrapper for sensitive data. For conversion, the only viable workflow is to use the authorized client software to decrypt and "export" or "save as" the original file format, provided the sender has granted those specific permissions. Direct third-party conversion is generally impossible due to the encryption algorithms used.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SECURE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert SECURE file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use FinalCode or similar software from the "DRM Encrypted Container" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to SECURE, try FinalCode or another comparable tool in the "DRM Encrypted Container" category.
The SECURE Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SECURE converter.
