A .DOCENX file is not a standard document format you can simply open or edit; it is a critical indicator that your files have been taken hostage. Warning: Renaming the extension back to DOCX will not work and may corrupt the file header further. Genuine conversion requires a two-step process: first, decryption using specific security tools or restoration from an offline backup (e.g., Acronis Cyber Protect), and second, once the file is restored to its original format (like DOCX or XLSX), it can be handled normally. For archiving restored data to a non-editable format to prevent future modification, converting to PDF/A is recommended.
