About DOCENX files

A .docenx file is a heavily encrypted document locked by the Crysis or Dharma ransomware families. Originally, these were standard Microsoft Word documents, but malicious software has scrambled their contents to extort money from the victim.

To restore the file, victims typically need a specialized decryptor tool provided by cybersecurity researchers, such as those found on the official No More Ransom project. You cannot open a .docenx file directly in any standard word processor.

The primary disadvantage of this format is that it is locked with strong cryptographic algorithms like AES or RSA. Standard online converters fail completely because they do not have the private decryption key required to unscramble the data. You cannot bypass the encryption by simply renaming the file extension to DOCX.

If you successfully decrypt the file, the ideal target formats are DOCX, DOC, or PDF to restore normal access. Be aware that during the ransomware encryption process, some internal formatting or metadata may be permanently corrupted.

This file format is exceptionally difficult to process. Only the original decryption key or a known cybersecurity tool can properly unlock the data. However, you can still use our platform safely. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. convert.guru can safely inspect the file's raw hex data, helping you identify the ransomware variant and confirm the encryption signature without executing any malicious code.

Convert.Guru analyzes your DOCENX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted WPW, 95 and WR1 files.
