The .SE file extension primarily identifies a Swedish accounting data file formatted according to the SIE (Standard Import and Export) standard. A secondary but notable use is as a Spectroscopic Ellipsometry data file generated by J.A. Woollam WVASE software, used in materials science to measure optical properties.
The SIE format is highly localized to the Swedish financial system. Opening an SIE file without dedicated Swedish accounting software usually exposes a dense, tag-heavy text structure that is difficult for generic spreadsheet applications to parse correctly. Without a licensed installation of the native software, extracting raw measurement data for use in common graphing tools is practically impossible.
