The .SDY file extension is primarily known as a Moldflow simulation study file used by Autodesk Moldflow to store plastic injection molding simulations. It is also widely used as a Schücal project data file by Schüco for facade and window construction, and as a structural analysis data file by Bentley STAAD.Pro. Engineers and designers use these files to save complex project configurations, meshes, and material flow parameters.
The main disadvantage of the .SDY format is that it is strictly proprietary. Opening or editing these files typically requires an expensive, industry-specific software license.
