Convert SDB to another file type
To convert SDB databases to another format, you need SQLite or other Database software.
Convert a file to SDB
To convert other file formats to the "Application Database File" file type, you need software like SQLite or a similar tool.
About SDB files
The .sdb file format is a highly fragmented extension primarily used for CSI SAP2000 structural analysis models and generic SQLite version 3 databases. It is also used by Microsoft Windows for Application Compatibility Shim databases and by Android for caching thumbnails. The primary disadvantage of an .sdb file is its ambiguity. Because dozens of unrelated programs use this generic database extension, identifying the correct software is incredibly frustrating. Proprietary variants like SAP2000 require expensive, specialized software licenses to open, while standard SQLite versions still require dedicated database viewer software, making them difficult for non-technical users to read or share natively. For database archiving and sharing, convert .sdb to CSV or SQL. For web use, exporting table data to JSON is highly recommended.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SDB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert SDB file to PDF, CSV, OBJ, FBX, DAE, 3DS, MAX, BLEND, MA, MB, C4D or STL, you can use SQLite or similar software from the "Structural Models & Databases" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DWG, DAE, X3D, IGES, WRL, JT, SKP, 3DS, 3DM, OBJ, STEP or FBX files to SDB, try SQLite or another comparable tool in the "Structural Models & Databases" category.
The SDB Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SDB converter.
