Convert a file to SCP
To convert other file formats to the "Scientific Data File" file type, you need software like Keysight InfiniiVision or a similar tool.
About SCP files
The .SCP file extension is heavily fragmented, primarily used to store either oscilloscope waveform data and equipment setups, or standard electrocardiogram (ECG) records. Hardware engineers use these files to save states from Keysight, Agilent, and NI oscilloscopes. Medical professionals rely on them for digital ECG signals standardized under EN 1064. Other niche uses include flux-level floppy disk images for the SuperCard Pro and custom packages for the rhythm game Sonolus.
Opening these files usually requires specific manufacturer software, such as Keysight's proprietary PC tools, medical software like CardioSoft, or specialized emulators.
The main disadvantage of the .SCP format is its total lack of standardization across industries. Multiple unrelated companies use the exact same extension for completely different binary or XML formats. This makes it impossible to open most .SCP files in a standard web browser, spreadsheet software, or text editor. Oscilloscope data files are usually closed, proprietary binary blobs, meaning extracting your data often requires an expensive software license.
If you need to analyze the data, the best target formats are CSV or TXT for oscilloscope waveforms, which allow you to load the data into Excel or Python. For medical ECG files, converting to PDF or XML is required to share the visual graphs securely.
Because this file format is a proprietary blob in most cases, it is notoriously difficult to open or convert. Often, only the original hardware software can properly read or export the data. Our platform analyzes the internal headers to detect if the file is an oscilloscope dump, an ECG, a disk image, or an embedded archive. If our analysis detects a supported underlying format - such as the ZIP structure used by Sonolus or plain XML - viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SCP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert SCP file to MP4, PNG, IMG, ADF, SYS, DLL, EXE, DRV, VXD, 386, COM or BAT, you can use Keysight InfiniiVision or similar software from the "Oscilloscope and ECG Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MSI, EXE, REG, MST, LNK, CAB, CAT, DRV, INF, SYS, MSU or DLL files to SCP, try Keysight InfiniiVision or another comparable tool in the "Oscilloscope and ECG Data Storage" category.
The SCP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SCP converter.
