About SCD files

The SCD file type is a proprietary file format developed by Siemens. It is used to store configuration data for their programmable logic controllers (PLCs). SCD files are not compatible with other software, making it difficult to open and edit them. Conversion of SCD files to other formats can be done using specialized software, such as Step 7 Professional or Step 7 Basic. These software packages are designed for use with Siemens PLCs and can be used to convert SCD files to other formats, such as CSV, XML, and JSON. However, the process of converting SCD files can be challenging and time-consuming, and there are no guarantees that the converted file will be compatible with other software. Additionally, the software required to convert SCD files can be expensive and difficult to use. For these reasons, it is often preferable to use a free and easy online website, such as Convert.Guru, to convert SCD files.

The SCD Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began more than 25 years ago in California, when Tom Simondi published the most comprehensive database of file formats on his website. Before that, Tom had worked on Space Shuttle development at the Air Force Systems Command’s Space Division in Los Angeles. He is known as one of the top programmers of the late 1980s.

When Microsoft integrated Tom’s Filext database into Windows XP, it became the leading platform for analyzing and processing file types and formats.

Today, we use the latest technologies to analyze, process, and convert one of the world's largest collections of file formats. We are committed to developing the best SCD converter by continuously improving quality, usability, and reliability.
