About RPGSAVE files
The .rpgsave file is a serialized data archive used to store player progress in games built with RPG Maker MV and RPG Maker MZ. It records everything from character levels and inventory to map coordinates. Under the hood, these engines run on HTML5 and JavaScript. The save file is essentially a JSON string that has been compressed using the LZString library to save disk space and prevent casual tampering. The main disadvantage of the .rpgsave format is its opacity. It is completely unreadable in standard text editors. Because there is no official save management software provided by Enterbrain, players who want to modify their stats, fix a broken quest, or transfer data to a different platform are stuck. If you try to open it in a basic text editor, you will only see garbled base64 characters. To effectively edit your game data, you need to convert the .rpgsave file to JSON or TXT.
