Convert ROF to another file type
To convert your ROF file to another format, you need Raylectron or other 3D software.
Convert a file to ROF
To convert other file formats to the "Render Object File" file type, you need software like Raylectron or a similar tool.
About ROF files
The .rof extension is shared between three distinct technical environments, creating significant confusion for users.
1. Raylectron Render Object File (Most Common)
Generated by the Raylectron plugin for SketchUp, this file acts as a proprietary snapshot of a 3D scene. It bundles geometry, textures, camera angles, and lighting settings into a single package for the standalone Raylectron rendering engine.
The Problem: These files are not standard 3D formats like OBJ or FBX. You cannot import them into Blender or 3ds Max. They are strictly for the Raylectron pipeline.
Conversion: The primary goal is usually to turn this scene into a viewable image (JPG, PNG) or shareable document. This requires opening the file in Raylectron and using the "Render" function.
2. Rigol Instrument Data File
Engineers using Rigol test equipment (specifically DP800 series power supplies and certain oscilloscopes) encounter .rof files when saving recorded waveform or voltage data.
The Problem: This is a raw binary format that Microsoft Excel cannot open directly. The data is locked inside a proprietary structure with a 16-byte header, making it inaccessible for analysis without conversion.
Conversion: Users typically need to convert this binary data to CSV (Comma Separated Values) for graphing. While official Rigol software can sometimes export this, many users resort to Python scripts or hex editors to strip the header and parse the floating-point values.
3. AudienceView Report
Legacy versions of AudienceView (ticketing software) generate .rof files as "Report Output Files." These are typically static documents containing sales or seating data. Users generally need to convert these to PDF for archiving or XLSX for accounting.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ROF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert ROF file to TMP, TEMP, CACHE, LOG, BAK, OLD, NEW, PART, DOWNLOAD, CRDOWNLOAD, LOCK or PID, you can use Raylectron or similar software from the "3D Render Scene Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DEVICE, CACHE, SOCK, SYMLINK, PID, MOUNT, FIFO, LOG, PIPE, TMP, JUNCTION or TEMP files to ROF, try Raylectron or another comparable tool in the "3D Render Scene Storage" category.
The ROF Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ROF converter.
