About RFS files

The .rfs extension primarily serves as a Game Resource Archive for MMORPGs, specifically Rising Force Online (RF Online) and Dragon Nest. These files are massive containers - often exceeding 1GB - that lock away game assets like 3D models, textures, and audio files to prevent tampering.

For RF Online players, the file is frequently just a standard ZIP archive in disguise. The proprietary extension prevents users from easily accessing the internal data, but renaming the file often allows standard tools like 7-Zip or WinRAR to open it.

Conversely, Dragon Nest .rfs files are often encrypted or use custom compression, requiring specialized extraction scripts (such as those for QuickBMS) to converting the internal data into usable PNG, WAV, or OBJ formats.

A completely different, minority use case is the Reflection FTP Client Script. These are simple text files used to automate file transfers. Unlike the game archives, these are small (KB size) and can be converted to TXT or viewed in any text editor like Notepad++.

Convert.Guru analyzes your RFS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted RSF, MSH, PAK, RFA, GAT, GRF and RRF files.
