About RFS files

.RFS files are primarily used as Game Resource Archives by MMORPGs like Rising Force Online (RF Online) and Dragon Nest. They also occasionally function as script files for the Micro Focus Reflection FTP Client.

For the game archives, the game client itself reads these files to load 3D models, textures, and sounds. Modders often use specialized unpacker utilities or standard archive managers like 7-Zip if the internal structure is based on standard compression algorithms. Reflection scripts, on the other hand, are plain text and can be edited in Notepad++.

Users usually encounter .RFS files when trying to mod games, extract audio and textures, or manage FTP automation. The main disadvantage is that game archives are heavily packed, sometimes encrypted, can easily exceed several gigabytes in size, and are completely useless outside their specific game engine.

The goal with game archives is usually extraction rather than direct conversion. Converting an .RFS typically means extracting its contents to standard formats like ZIP, DDS (textures), WAV (audio), or TXT (for scripts).

Game resource files are proprietary, closed formats designed specifically to prevent tampering. Standard online converters completely fail to process them because the compression algorithms and folder structures vary by game developer. However, you can drag and drop your .RFS file onto convert.guru to see what it is and convert it if supported. We can identify the exact signature, and if it uses a standard ZIP wrapper (like in RF Online) or contains readable text (like the FTP script), we can extract the internal contents or display the text immediately.

Convert.Guru analyzes your RFS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted RSF, MSH, PAK, RFA, GAT, GRF and RRF files.
