Convert RES11 to another file type
To convert RES11 results to another format, you need MIKE 11 or other Data software.
Convert a file to RES11
To convert other file formats to the "Simulation Results Data" file type, you need software like MIKE 11 or a similar tool.
About RES11 files
The .RES11 file contains simulation output data generated by MIKE 11, a specialized 1D river and channel modeling software developed by DHI. Hydrodynamic engineers use these files to store complex time-series data, including water levels, flow rates, sediment transport, and water quality metrics calculated during a simulation run.
To view and interact with .RES11 files, professionals rely on the DHI MIKE Zero software suite, specifically tools like MIKE View or the MIKE 11 interface.
The main disadvantage of the .RES11 format is its highly proprietary and closed binary structure. You cannot open these files natively in web browsers, standard text editors, or general data analysis tools like Microsoft Excel. Accessing the data usually requires an expensive, active commercial license from DHI. Furthermore, depending on the length of the simulation and the number of time steps, these files often exceed several gigabytes, making them difficult to share or archive efficiently.
When working with external stakeholders, engineers frequently need to convert .RES11 data into accessible formats like CSV, TXT, or XLSX for statistical analysis, or export the spatial data to SHP for GIS mapping. Be aware that exporting to flat text formats strips away the native visual animation and network topology features inherent to the DHI environment.
Because this is a closed engineering format, standard online converters fail to parse the binary data. Often, only the original MIKE software can properly read or export the exact simulation results. However, you can just drag and drop your .RES11 file into convert.guru to identify the format, view its metadata, and extract any embedded plaintext. If our analysis detects a supported underlying structure, partial data viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your RES11 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert RES11 file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use MIKE 11 or similar software from the "River Model Results Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to RES11, try MIKE 11 or another comparable tool in the "River Model Results Storage" category.
The RES11 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our RES11 converter.
