About REPLAY files

A .REPLAY file is a telemetry and game-state data container. It is most commonly generated by Fortnite, Rocket League, and Brawlhalla. These files record player coordinates, camera angles, inputs, and game events over time. They do not contain actual video frames or audio tracks. To open a .REPLAY file, you must place it in the specific replay folder of the original game installation. The game engine then uses the data to re-enact the match in real-time. Users often want to convert these files to share their gameplay on platforms like YouTube or TikTok. The main disadvantage of the .REPLAY format is its strictly proprietary nature. It is heavily tied to the specific version of the game engine, such as Unreal Engine. If a game updates its map or weapon stats, old replay files usually become corrupted and unplayable because the underlying environment has changed. Furthermore, standard media players cannot read them. The best target formats for sharing are MP4 or WEBM. However, because standard online converters lack the 3D assets required to render the game world, direct conversion is technically impossible. You must open the file inside the game and use screen capture software like OBS Studio to record the playback. This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert outside of its native environment. The internal data is often compressed using zlib and relies on undocumented binary structures. We can identify the exact game it belongs to, inspect the internal headers, and extract any readable plain text metadata. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your REPLAY file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted ACREPLAY, MCPR, REPLAYDESC, RPLY, TBREPLAY, EMPIRE_REPLAY, MVLREPLAY, SSFREC, MP4, RPL, PEG, QR and ZIP files.
