About QTI files
A .QTI file is the native project format for QtiPlot, a widely used scientific data analysis and visualization tool often cited as the open-source alternative to OriginLab Origin. These files are essentially containers (typically XML-based) that save the entire state of a research workspace: raw data tables, processed matrices, statistical analysis results, and complex 2D or 3D plot layers.
A major limitation with .QTI files is accessibility. While QtiPlot is technically open-source (GPL), the developer charges a fee for pre-compiled binaries on Windows and macOS. This means if a colleague sends you a .QTI file and you don't have a paid maintenance contract or the technical expertise to compile the software from source code yourself, you are effectively locked out of the data. Furthermore, .QTI files strictly adhere to QtiPlot's internal object structure, making them incompatible with standard spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel or LibreOffice Calc.
To make the content usable, users typically need to convert the visual graphs to PDF or SVG for vector-quality publication, or PNG for quick sharing. For the underlying data, extracting tables to CSV or XLSX is necessary to continue analysis in more common tools.
Use Convert.Guru to open and convert your QTI file.
Users also converted ZIP, XML, IMSCC, DOCX, TXT, PDF, CSV, DAT, DOC, KEY, JSX and MP4 files.
The QTI Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our QTI converter.
