About QMP files

The .qmp extension is a "container" of confusion, serving three distinct, incompatible industries.

1. Mass Spectrometry Data (Primary Use)

Most commonly, a .qmp file is a proprietary data recording created by Pfeiffer Vacuum Quadera software. It stores ion current measurements from Quadrupole Mass Spectrometers.

The Friction: These files are binary and strictly locked to the Quadera environment. You cannot open them in Excel or Notepad directly.
The Solution: You must use Quadera's internal "Export" function to convert the dataset to CSV, TXT (ASCII), or XLSX for analysis in standard tools. Without the original software, the file is virtually a black box.

2. Absolute Database Image

In the Delphi development world, .qmp files appear as resources associated with ComponentAce Absolute Database. Despite the database association, these files often contain standard JFIF (JPEG) image data used for internal storage or BLOB (Binary Large Object) exports.
The Workaround: If you suspect your file is an image, try renaming the extension from .qmp to jpg and opening it in a standard viewer like Microsoft Photos or Adobe Photoshop.

3. Bannerlord Quest Package

Modders for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord use this format with Quest Maker.
The Hack: These are typically just renamed ZIP archives containing XML logic and assets. You can usually rename the file to zip to double-click and extract the contents without specialized tools.

Convert.Guru analyzes your QMP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted QSK, NCT, BOK and CGP files.

The QMP Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our QMP converter.
