About NCT files

The .nct file extension primarily represents two completely different formats: a Building energy calculation database used by the National Calculation Methodology (NCM), and a CD/DVD cover design template created by Nero CoverDesigner. The NCM database is typically built on the JetDB engine, while Nero templates utilize either XML or a proprietary binary structure. Both formats suffer from severe accessibility limitations. NCM files require specialized, government-approved building engineering software or Microsoft Access database tools to open, trapping raw analytical data inside a proprietary shell. Nero CoverDesigner files restrict your print designs to legacy software, a major disadvantage since optical media is largely obsolete and the required application is rarely installed on modern machines. Furthermore, a small percentage of .nct files belong to the deeply obsolete Now Contact address book software.
