The .PZH file is a proprietary Construction project budget file used exclusively by RIB Presto. It stores highly structured data for cost estimating, including itemized task lists, resource prices, unit costs, and project scheduling metrics. Presto is widely used by architects, engineers, and builders to manage complex construction estimates and 5D BIM models.
The main disadvantage of the .PZH format is strict vendor lock-in. It is a closed, proprietary file that requires an expensive commercial license for RIB Presto to open, edit, or read. If a contractor or client receives a .PZH file without owning this specific software, they cannot access the budget. The file cannot be read by web browsers, standard text editors, or basic spreadsheet applications.
Users typically need to convert .PZH files to universally accessible formats like XLSX (Excel), CSV, or PDF to view cost breakdowns and quantities.
