Convert PRESTO to another file type
To convert PRESTO Estimates to another format, you need RIB Presto or other Data software.
Convert a file to PRESTO
To convert other file formats to the "Construction Project Database" file type, you need software like RIB Presto or a similar tool.
About PRESTO files
The .PRESTO file is the native project container for RIB Presto, a comprehensive cost estimation and bid management tool widely adopted in the European construction industry. These files function as specialized databases, encapsulating complex Bills of Quantities (BoQ), unit prices, resource analysis, and project certifications.
Because the format is proprietary to the RIB Software ecosystem, it acts as a "black box" for anyone without a paid license. A common friction point arises when architects or contractors send raw .PRESTO files to clients or subcontractors who rely on different software; standard tools like Microsoft Excel or text editors cannot interpret the binary structure, rendering the data inaccessible. This lock-in complicates the bidding process and data exchange.
To ensure interoperability, the industry standard is to convert .PRESTO files to the BC3 (FIEBDC) format, which is the universal standard for construction data exchange. For general viewing and calculation, converting to XLSX is recommended, while PDF is best for finalizing contracts and uneditable reports.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PRESTO file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert PRESTO file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use RIB Presto or similar software from the "Construction Cost Estimation" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to PRESTO, try RIB Presto or another comparable tool in the "Construction Cost Estimation" category.
The PRESTO Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PRESTO converter.
